The only job you'll enjoy applying for!

When it comes to applying for work it can be a daunting task. You've got to make sure your CV is up to date. Some job applications ask for essays while some can take hours to complete just to find you didn't save it properly and have to start again. It's a nightmare! Applying for camp work in America is no different, but it'll be the only job you don't mind applying for.

These kind of applications are more straightforward. Create a log-in and keep on track of your application and save it each time. It's basically a form all about yourself. Most applications will ask for basic personal information, alongside with your work experience (especially with children), education background and hobbies, skills and talents (including certificates) and job preferences. This part will give you the option to choose what camps you'd like to work for. Don't forget, you need a recent photo of yourself!

Once these areas are complete, someone who works for the company will arrange an online interview with you. This is so that they can see what your personality is like. Even though the application can do just that, it provides a better insight into the real you.

Some of the documents that you'll need to sort out include your health history, DBS (police background check), passport information and at least two references. It's best to get these done as soon as possible.

Around this time, you can go to a camp fair. It's a great opportunity to directly speak to camp that you're interested in. If you don't want to, or can't make a camp fair, your application will go up on an online portal where any camp can view your application.

When you've been offered a position and accept it, that's when you can start getting organised with everything else. Start looking for some flights and check when they're on sale as well. Or speak to the flights team who can help you organise the best flights. Once your sponsor has sorted out all your documents, then you can apply for the J-1 visa and go to your closest US Embassy to get them sent off. Then, it's just waiting for the day that you head off to camp!
